Satellite realignment

Post by stone28 »

Hi All,

I have had sat dish installed for Freesat (it was done months ago) and finally I have TV but there is no satellite signal. Not sure what's wrong as it was working after installation (there was just quick test on borrowed TV). The company (Spectrum from Croydon) wants to charge me £80 for checking it - the same like installation with all the hardware which I think is not fair.

Does anybody know some local TV/SAT fitting company I could try?

Thanks for your help.

Maybe a silly question, but are you sure it is the Dish and not the decoder that is faulty?
Do you know anyone that can lend you a decoder to check?

you could just buy a satellite signal checker, they're about a fiver on ebay, just plug it into the F-connector and see it you get a good signal.

The dish should be ppointing to Astra28e which is the Sky satellite and so it you can borrow a sky box you can use that to test

Exactly ;-) that’s what came to my mind after posting the tread. Will get something from ARGOS (freesat box) today and check with that. Will see if there is anything coming up on screen.

I have the meter (bought it on Saturday to check) but there is nothing coming up on it. Not even sure if it works as I don’t know how to check it. Connected f-connector and nothing’s happening.
