Hi
I have dedicated some pages on my website to Mary Hooper who was a Professor of Domestic Economy at the Crystal Palace School of Arts, Science and Literature. circa 1874. she died in 1904.
She lived at 7 Kilburn Villas, Central Hill, Upper Norwood, S.E., for a time
She wrote cookery books, a novel and some childrens books. She also wrote various papers on cookery that I have yet to find
any info would be appreciated...a photo/picture would be the holy grail.
Does anyone know if the place still exists?
also as far as old photographs go
Were there any portrait photographic studios in the area prior to 1900?
any info would be appreciated

hi
my understanding is that Mary Hooper lived with Charles Wentworth Wass.
I believe Wass was married to Mary's sister Emily (who died young) and was in partnership with Mary Hooper's father Fredrick William (they were bankrupt on 23rd April 1858)
Wass was also involved with art at the crystal palace for many years.
if anyone can shed some light on Miss hooper based on the above information please let me know.
Kind Regards
