The first photo is up by the higher terrace near the south transept sphynx steps.
I believe all the car scrapping was done on the terraces/main palace site.

I loved watching that. I don't remember having seen those tracks before, I'll go and look at the weekend.
I've got two questions for you Konqi:
1. Do you have a photo of the front of the Palace from 1854? Or, more likely, of the parade before the High-Level station was in situ? There are so many of the gardens from that time.
2. Do you know of a filmed documentary or feature that was made of the palace pre 1936? I've seen the clips from British Movietone News, the ITN/Pathe clips you've provided, but nothing expansive!

1)From memory I can't think of any photos I've seen of that side of the palace around that time.
