When visiting Sydenham, travelled along Jews Walk to Taylor's Lane, home of my forbears. The earliest Cheasman (Cheseman) I have so far is an Isaac.
So I've been wondering when/what the Jewish connection is to Sydenham and whether my origins are in a Jewish family, perhaps anglicising their name and taking the 'Cheseman' from the local historical family.
Anyone any thoughts please?
Thanks
