New building on Kirkdale

Permission has been granted by council for the shops at 109-111 Kirkdale to be redeveloped, with new shops below and flats below.

I wonder how old the existing buildings are? It will be sad to see them go, but I can understand why the decision has been taken that they should, given that any charm they might have had has now been obliterated by their horrible neighbours. What a mess Kirkdale is.
