We are looking for permanent residential care for a relative who has moderate dementia and thinking about Westwood House .
I would be really grateful to hear from anyone who has knowledge or experience of the place - good or bad . Nearness is really useful to allow us to have more contact but obviously we need somewhere where she will be stimulated with good company and ideally work she can take part in around the house and garden . Our relative , despite the dementia , is energetic , sociable and really fit for her age , hence we are looking for somewhere to meet her needs.
If preferable PM me with any thoughts .
Much appreciated and
A very good afternoon
Nigel
Westwood House Care Home
Re: Westwood House Care Home
I don't know Westwood. I have heard good things from a friend about Peartree, at the bottom of Sydenham High St just before Kent House Rd. Hope you find the right one for your relative
Re: Westwood House Care Home
Have you thought of extra care housing? My mother who sadly passed away last July was in
extra care housing at Regency Court, Bromley. She had her own flat with all her own furniture
It was very spacious. There is 24 hour care there so that she was looked after from the moment
she woke up with washing herself, medication and meals throughout the day.
She was checked on throughout the night and if she fell there were alarms to alert the staff.
There is a communal lounge which she thoroughly enjoyed being able to socialise with the other
residents. Also activities and entertainment provided. She made so many friends there that we
still regularly go to see them. I believe that there is extra care housing at Penge. Think its called
Anne Sutherland House. My mother had dementia too so I know the importance of finding a relative
the right place for them.

Re: Westwood House Care Home
Thanks all for the suggestions and kind thoughts .
We looked at Westwood House today.
Absolutely no criticism , real or implied of the home and staff , who very friendly and seemed committed , but it was just not the kind of community our relative would have been happy in .
The search widens .
Thanks again
