Had a family event last Saturday and booked the Journey Cafe in Kirkdale. 17 of us and we had the place solely for our use with no booking fee. I had asked for 2.00pm to 5.00pm but Coli, the manager said we were welcome to have it up to 6.30pm at which time they had a quick turnaround prior to another party in the evening. Food (soup, huge toasted sandwiches, platters containing heaps of different cheeses and meats etc plus cakes and other sweets) was excellent quality and he has a small but interesting selection of wines. Some bottled beers but, sadly, there were only 2 bottles of the Sardinian beer left when we arrived. It is lovely and I urge you to try it when it's back in. And they've got some interesting blues music on their sound system.
We were well looked-after all afternoon and I recommend it highly.

Re: Journey Cafe
Are they not open to the public on Saturday afternoons? Private bookings only?
Re: Journey Cafe
Normally they are. Perhaps they closed specially for this private party?
Re: Journey Cafe
Yes, the Journey cafe is usually open to the public all the time but, like many places I guess, can accommodate private parties on occasion.
