Glendale

Why do those useless people who patrol the parks for Glendale call themselves "Rangers"?

Rangers makes you think of things like Texas Rangers, resolute law enforcers who get things done. Whereas those lumps wandering around in Glendale uniforms cannot even, it appears, make a pack of pimply youth keep their dirty feet off he seats where the public must sit. Or tell dumb iPodders that this is a place for peace and quiet. They just walk right on by...

Rangers? That spineless lot?

Aw come on!

Are they not there to tend/maintain the grounds?

They are not PCSO's

Im sure you know they have no authority to MAKE people do anything.

According to the notice in Manor House Gardens they DO have the authority to issue spot fines for dog fouling.

So if they can issue fines when dogs deposit filth on the grounds, why not when dirty humans deposit filth on seats?

I’ve had many problems with Glendale and have witnessed their dreadful work habits for years. I wrote here once before that I was locked in the park on two occasions by the guy who usually locks the park. He’s a very arrogant and aggressive man who is always trying to skive off work early. I’ve had two run-ins with him until I finally complained.

I think its fair to day that many Glendale workers have a questionable work ethic. Several weeks ago I watched the said arrogant lock-up guy, driving around the field area. He drove his large van into the middle of the playing field, got out picked up an empty drink bottle and a piece newspaper. (He couldn’t be bothered to leave his car on the pavement and walk over to pick up the rubbish.) His van then got stuck in the mud in the middle of the field. I watched him spin his tyres until much of the grass had been ripped up. I phoned Glendale and the person who answered the phone said there was no one in the office for me to talk that and that she ‘didn’t know what to tell me.’

Last summer an organized dog fight took place on the Mayow road side of the park. People rushed over to stop the fight- a pregnant woman actually intervened. The entire time a couple of Glendale workers sat in their truck, looking on and eating their cheese sandwiches. Obviously, these people are not security guards or wardens (SOMETHING MAYOW PARK DESPERATELY NEEDS) but seriously! I think its shameful that the council continually awards contracts to this company

I could go on but I really don’t want to vent my spleen on this. I’d rather save it to moan about the scumbags who have left Mayow park in utter shambles over the past few weekends.

I work from home and walk my dogs in that park upwards of three times a day. Between the aggressive youths, drug deals, litter, dog poo and totally lazy and ineffective police/community support officers, I’ve stopped going and opted for Cator Park.

Glendale Rangers will remain ineffective until Steve Bullock sees sense and issues them with firearms.

In a Glendale "maintained" park the other day;

The notice board of regulations says, among other things, "No Loud Music".

And there was a Glendale vehicle pumping out loud music.

What a load of worthless dickheads.

It gets better.
In Manor park I saw some young lady not just sitting on the picnic table with her feet on the bench, but with her feet on the table itself. You know, where mums on picnics with their kids put the food.
Action from the "Rangers"? - bu**er all, of course.

Edited slightly on tone. Admin

Glendale are the company that have the contract with Lewisham council to maintain the parks in the area (not sure how many though) and previous threads have suggested a certain amount of discontent amongst local residents as to how they perform their role. Hope that helps.

One of the park rules in Manor House gardens reads "No Loud Music".

Strolling past the tennis courts a couple of times recently during the "tennis zone" morning, the participants had a boom box belting away.

What did Glendale's "rangers" do? Nothing.

A bunch of useless winkers if you ask me. (And even if you don't ask me.)

I agree it really agravates me if one anti social thug brings in a boom box to annoy everyone else. About time action taken.
