Just watched a very interesting episode tonight from Phil and Kirsty
The show covered South East London including Sydenham, Crystal Palace, Beckenham, and East Dulwich - really good to see Sydenham portrayed very positively

Absolutely! "Beautifully leafy", they described Sydenham as. We've really moved up in the world since Sydenham's first and only other appearance on the show about five years ago when I think they showed a couple who said the high street was awful and they couldn't possibly live here.

Were they wearing rose-tinted specs this time because the high street certainly hasn't changed that much?Emc wrote:Absolutely! "Beautifully leafy", they described Sydenham as. Its got worse - if you watched carefully you will have spotted it was filmed in the glory days when Sydenham still had a Sema's Cafe.parker wrote:Were they wearing rose-tinted specs this time because the high street certainly hasn't changed that much?

It was good a good episode. It clumped together 'metropolitan village' atmosphere of Crystal Palace, 'trendy' East Dulwich, 'super cool' Forest Hill and 'cosmopolitan' Sydenham. Interesting how zone 3 is perceived (compared with 'suburban' Beckenham). That's why it's frustrating that many (although, not all) of the businesses along the Sydenham Road don't pick up on that. A good reflection of Sydneham though - came over well.
