Wanted: a local pub that doesn't play music!!!

Went to our usual book group meet at the Golden Lion recently...but it was almost impossible to hear what each of us were saying because the music was just so LOUD. Yes, when I asked, they turned it down a little, but really it wasn't a huge improvement. Found the same problem in the Dolphin - that's why we moved to the GL.

So, forumites, is there a pub in the locality that doesn't have this wretched muzak??!!

Please let us know if you wouldn't mind.

No silly comments...we know the Greyhound doesn't have piped music (coz it's shut!)

You might want to try The Capitol in Forest Hill. Or Foxes in Kirkdale. Good luck...

The Railway in Penge is I think, Muzak free!

I don't know if it is still the case, but J D Wetherspoons pubs used to have a no music policy across all their bars. So if there is a JDW near you it may be worth a try.

Moon and Stars has no music policy and also no vaping.

Talking only , what a refreshing change .

The last thing one wants in a pub is the Bay City Rollers in the background.
