I try not to let my personal feelings intrude into the reporting in Sydenham Town. I'm not known as a member of the flog'em, jail'em brigade but I have lost my cool in this case.
Reporting the frontpage 'Dallas Girls' 42 month sentence for stealing £40 million - which presumably means they will be out in under two years - I do question the values of our justice system.
That £40 million of *our* money that would have been spent saving lives, educating the young, feeding and housing the needy.
Compare that with the sentence for Gary Hart who was sentenced to 5 years for going to sleep on the motorway. Stupid, but without intention of hurting anyone.
I could go on. Or am I the only person to be exercised by an apparent lack of rigor in our sentencing system?
