"Sydenham Concerts"
Hello! I am a musician based in Sydenham and planning on organisng regular-ish concerts at St. Bartholomew's this year.
For a start, I am organizing a piano recital at 5pm this Sunday (7th) for my sister who is a concert pianist and trying to spread the word. I gave out some flyers at St. Barts after a concert a few weeks ago, and there should be posters up at the church too but I figured that I need to do more online to try and reach people I don't yet know... We've created a facebook event, but I suppose this is only seen by people who are our personal acquaintances. I've also created a "Page" for the "series" but there's not much on it yet... https://www.facebook.com/sydenhamconcerts/
Details for this Sunday as follows:
Misa Yamamoto Piano Recital
5pm, Sunday the 7th February ~ Breeze of Spain (Piano Solo) ~
St. Bartholomew's Sydenham
Granados Goyescas, Schubert Impromptu, Liszt Spanish Rhapsody and Ravel Miroirs
£12, £10 (Concessions), Free entry for full-time students and under 18s
Discounted advanced tickets available online:
https://billetto.co.uk/en/events/misa-y ... h-sydenham
Any suggestions on how to publicize the "series" in the future would be gratefully received as I would really like to give this a go and try and build local audience...
I am a harpsichordist by the way so future concerts will mainly involve Baroque music on period instruments...

Re: "Sydenham Concerts"
Hi
I've just shared you event on the Forest Hill Fashion Week Facebook page & Twitter & my shop Twitter hope this helps.
Can I suggest you share the event tomorrow on Facebook groups such as Sydenham Mums, Fab Forest Hill, Brockley mums, SE23 Mums and Dads etc.
I think this is probably the best way to advertise it at such short notice.
If anyone else wants to help spread the word on Twitter you can RT the last tweet by @fhfashionse23

Re: "Sydenham Concerts"
I went to this concert this afternoon. Totally mind-blowing; Misa Yamamoto is amazing! The Liszt Spanish Rhapsody was so exciting I thought I ought to try to find somewhere to have a little lie down afterwards
.
What a pity the audience was so tiny.

Thank you very much for coming!!!
Yes I will work on publicity - I hope to have added a page on my website soon, and definitely before the next concert in April. The facebook page now has slightly more than yesterday.
I'm still quite new to being on the "organising" side as opposed to the performing side so I am learning as I go along.
Thank you very much Robin for your kind words and glad you enjoyed the recital! - I will show your post to my sister.
I hope to see you all at the next concert!!

Re: "Sydenham Concerts"
nice to hear more interest in music locally these days...when we first moved here in 2011 we were kind of horrified by the lack of music and cultural events locally...but its been picking up since then with more people pushing for it too......there really should be as Sydenham has a high concentration of musicians.
we started this night in 2014 as we were jonesing for a place to play and for others to share...and so far its been a blast, we bring different acts in every month, with some repeats.....booked acts and open mic slots if people are interested..... this months is this Sat 27 Feb and always at On the Hoof Bistro. Line up is folky with new and returning musicians..... great singer/songwriters. see schedule below and call Ela to book a table at 020 8659 7333 (free entry, books up fast)
7.30pm - AMY DRINKWATER - local gal, youngest player yet
