Just in case you hadn't noticed the severe traffic congestion around the Kirkdale roundabout is being caused as a knock-on from today's complete closure of that A234 Crystal Palace Park Road for emergency gas works at the railway bridge near Penge West.
It is expected to be closed until Monday. Bus routes 197, 176 & 227 diverted

Traffic congestion - Penge cut off

Why not Sydenham cut off Stuart
Reminds me of the famous newspaper headline in the 50's. Fog in Channel. Europe cut off.

Re: Traffic congestion - Penge cut off
No sooner do we finally get rid of the emergency gas works in Penge Lane than some pop up elsewhere

Re: Traffic congestion - Penge cut off
Yesterday evening there were tailbacks everywhere in the surrounding area as well, as traffic was redirected through Crystal Palace. At 4pm I tried to take my usual route to Crystal Palace when I need to avoid Sydenham, which involves Dartmouth Road in Forest Hill, then Sydenham Hill. Gridlock in both CP and Sydenham meant long tailbacks on both those roads. It took me 45 minutes to reach and pass the double mini roundabouts at the CP.

Hello all its my first post here.
I live on Lawrie Park Road and when I went out this morning it would appear the road is now open again, ahead of schedule, so hopefully no more horrendous drives back home, well no more than usual.
