Work on Sydenham Park road/water mains
Anyone know anything about the proposed work on the water mains west of the station. A couple of us on Syd park road had been asked not to park on the road outside our houses - but very little information has been provided about when and where the proposed roadworks is taking place - its all a bit vague

anyone got any updates on this? some of us got a aggressive note telling us to shift our cars on pain of towing the other morning - but I then got a call saying not to worry from the construction firm

We are into a fifth week of chaos in Lawrie Park Gardens. The combination of this longwinded disruption (necessary as it is) is compounded by the utterly thoughtless/selfish parking by some residents.
It makes trying to get into and out of drives almost impossible. Last weekend a car near us fell into one of the deep holes as he tried to manouvre out. I suppose Thames Water or its contractor will get the blame (not helped as most of the barriers had been blown down). However I note the offending parked vehicle has had its tyres deflated so maybe there is some rough justice.
I hope for your sake Thames Water may be a little more aggressive at removing obstructing vehicles when they get to you.
I'm not sure how long we have to go. We haven't even been connected to the new system yet. The actual workers have been very helpful but even they don't know who is following them and TW haven't said a word since our original letter.

It's actually McNicholas who are doing the works on behalf of Thames Water. There should be a freephone number on their website for complaints.
When I spoke to the McNicholas works manager some weeks ago, he informed me that there would be plenty of notification of disruption (at least to main roads where bus routes exist). 'Engineering is not an exact science' is the philosophy about scheduling the works. The time-frames must have some flexibility.
Personally, I think there has obviously been some disruption on the minor roads, but nothing that has caused me a major problem. The real test will be when works are conducted on the main roads.
If you have any complaints, forward them straight to McNicholas. And keep us all informed of any problems
