Admin - I hope I didn't make any personal attacks on this thread. It's hard to talk about people's behaviour without mentioning them by name. If I crossed a line, I apologise.

The 'respectful silence' does work, but as michael says, only if everyone does it. There was a time on this forum when most people did and it worked fairly well. My policy, when I really can't say nothing, it to ask a direct and polite question. If that gets no useful response, I'll walk away. Sometimes, however, it does. I can think of two threads recently where I had an issue with something Eagle said and we had a reasonable conversation that resulted in Eagle at least acknowledging my position had some validity, even if he didn't change his own. That seems like a fair outcome to me.

I've had it. He's still here, his mere existence irritates me as do one or two waffling pompous pseudo intellectuals.

Don't see your problem with pseudo-intellectuals. I'd have thought you'd have enjoyed unmasking their pretensions.

Don't worry - he is now history. (Posting via a toxic IP).
