Sorry, Ben. Unfortunately you made your post before the discussion about last week's game had finished. It's much easier for me (or whoever is working out the squad), and fairer, if people post their availability for the next game AFTER the previous one. Everyone please take note!bengidney wrote:Hi Guys, we did opt in for the 1st last week but we're happy to go on the waiting list! Don't want to kick anyone off the list!

5-a-side footie
Each week I have some people saying they want to play with subs and others telling me they don't. I can't win!
I also have to grab some people before they leave to make sure they pay their £8.
I'd be delighted if someone wants to take over the management, because it's pretty thankless. Any volunteers?
As for tonight... Who knows? Feel free to turn up, but I can't guarantee people a game when they post a few hours before the game. I'll make an exception for the small number of people who make the effort to wash the bibs.

You can take my place - I'm sorry but following an all-nighter at work and no prospect of leaving the office any time soon I can't make it tonight. Apologies.originalfunkbrother wrote:Any room for subs?

Re: 5-a-side footie
How about the first 15 people who post get a game, with the final place taken by the person that has the bibs?
After that then people go on the waiting list for any drop outs. If no-one does drop out then then those 16 are the ones that play.
Maybe a rule should be made that if you don't pay one week you get a 2 week ban or something?
Just a suggestion so I hope you don't all think I'm being out of order.

Collecting the money isn't a major problem, but I'd like everyone to make the effort to find me and to pay up. I don't want to have to remind people - I'm not your mum!
And it would be nice if a few more people stepped up and washed the bibs.
Rant over. Looking forward to a good match tonight.

Thanks, ajr. Sounds good, and that's pretty much what I was doing this week: first sixteen to post and then reserves who can step in if anyone drops out. I thought I'd made that clear in my earlier posts. You're right, though - the person who has taken the bibs should automatically be one of the sixteen. My fault on this occasion.ajr wrote:How about the first 15 people who post get a game, with the final place taken by the person that has the bibs? After that then people go on the waiting list for any drop outs. Re: 5-a-side footie
A few months back it was the first 16 to post. End of. We should go back to that + bibs/balls person. If you want a guaranteed place, wash the bibs.biscuitman1978 wrote:So tonight we have:

Also, is it going to get any cheaper with these consistent numbers? (A mere enquiry)

Fair question. The answer is yes, we'll go back to £7 a game if we consistently get sixteen people.Ray S wrote:Also, is it going to get any cheaper with these consistent numbers? (A mere enquiry)
It has been at £8 because for a while we often had 14 players or less (we had eight players one night), and with that number of players £7 doesn't cover the pitch cost. That left us in a position where JimJeroo and I were owed money by the kitty. Those debts have now been sorted.
In addition, we needed to replenish the kitty to allow for the purchase of a new ball and bibs.
Re: 5-a-side footie
...and much appreciate the debt in order for us to have a game every week!
