From 12th September, Route 202 will become a double decker route. This is as part of a new bus tender deal between TfL and the current operator Metrobus which will also see an extra bus added to the timetable.
Currently we may see the odd double decker from time to time on the 202, but for most of us, we know how uncomfortable and overcrowded the route is, especially between Cobbs Corner and Catford.

The biggest problem I have with single-decker buses such as the 202 is that one is swung about (if standing) when the bus accelerates and brakes and I don't attribute that to the driver, just that modern double deckers are much smoother, so good news 
I'm not sure that d-ds have more capacity do they? But an extra bus will provide some of course, so good ho.

The most recent problem I had on the 202 from Blackheath to Sydenham around 4 pm and this is not unusual:
- Completely over crowded with school children
- Various people playing music
- Fat people – I was standing but even if I positioned sideways they had a job squeezing their way through
On this particular day the bus was chaos. I was the only white person.
There was nothing orderly about it.

Outrageous, all these young/large/brown people taking up space on public transport.
