Sydenham now has the coolest place in town to discuss... anything that takes one's fancy which can be somehow be related to Sydenham. Stuff that becomes too serious will be relegated (sorry - moved) to the 'Town Hall' section.

Don't despair! Town Cafe is about Sydenham - which would lose its identity and purpose if any old subject was introduced.

however, I am thinking of adding 'Town Pub' to the forum list. To cover discussion one might expect in any of our hostelries. Maddie McCann, George Bush and the selection of the England Team/Manager would be very welcome. Also, if anyone remembers alt.demon.local a forum for mutual abuse/flame wars and much more. Subject only to the whim of an equally outrageous landlord.

I'll bring this up at the next Forum meet - provisionally set for about 7pm @ The Golden Lion Tuesday, preceding the Jazz.

A higher degree of literacy would probably help your case a little, as you seem to have the grammar skills of Vicky Pollard .
Your post above barely makes sense.
But I suppose that's a racist point of view.

Bit harsh there KennyB2 - hope we don't have to spell check and grammar check every time we post now ;-)

One thing I've learnt (or is that learned, oops .....) is that good grammar, punctuation and spelling don't mean that someone is intelligent or even decent.

So lets live and let live, in perfect harmony.

A bit like Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson really

Thanks user100 for defending my terrible grammer.

My point for those who failed to understand it was that the proposed Town Pub section of the forum list should be named after The Greyhound where the people of Sydenham discussed sport and currant events for almost 300 years. Now that it no longer exists it can at least the be the name of the new venue for discussion so that it is never forgotten. Hopefully the people of Sydenham will be able to meet and greet in the Greyhound for another 300 years on this website.

I suspect that it was not your grammar that was being castigated.

Dammit, now I feel compelled to watch my grammar and use big words.

There is an internet convention not to critique each other's grammar. With good reason as KennyB's castigation was not quite the Queen's English either

Fear not - unless you can ascend to my level of split infinitives. Now back to the topic - To boldly create a Town Pub and call it The Greyhound?

OK back on topic, here goes then :-)

I think its 'OK' to have a Town Pub, and The Greyhound seems to be as good a name as any, although it may be dogged with terrible puns ;-)

However, given that this is a Sydenham forum - could I make an appeal please that the posts in the Pub section don't get flagged to the Home page?

It's just that I would prefer to only read and get involved in Sydenham related posts, not general topics as there are plenty of other boards on the internet for that, which I actively avoid.

If I see a post on the Home page I would prob just have to open it and might just get sucked into posting on it, and to be honest I haven't got the time to do that. I'm bad enough!

So as a Sydenham Town Forum addict, please don't feed the addiction too much!

Yeah it's a good idea as long it does't take over the website and overshadow the over parts of the forum list.

Whats said in the Greyhound stays in the Greyhound.

Re - Spelling

Post by DigitalFX »

Hi,

Again I felt compelled to reply and defend....(sorry to backtrack)

I was a little shocked regarding the comments from Kennyb2 about the grammer and spelling of superman176. Not only is this this person a really good friend of mine, but as a new member to this site it's not a nice thing to read about being twined with the mental ability of Vicky Pollard. I am sure he will comment upon his return.

I am trying to get more local people to join this site, and comments like that do not help. This person could have had a mental problem with writing and grammer, and you would of attacked him for somthing that he cannot control. I can confirm that he doesen't, however some people that stay up late and post replies should be excused for spelling and grammer mistakes as on this case.

On a lighter note I think that a new Pub section would be a great idea. Sometimes things can be a little quite in Sydenham, so a good old general Pub chat would help. If only to see what is on people's minds.

If anybody spots any spelling or grammer mistakes in my reply then tough.....I am pround to sometimes make mistakes...nobody is perfect.

This is getting funny. Nicolas thought it was his post, I thought it was mine and you think it is superman's. Let's leave it as honest confusion. My turn to be grumpy tomorrow ...

Re Town Pub/Greyhound. I was thinking of it replacing Town Asylum (most posts could be reallocated to other sections). What we don't want is too many sections. That would make it longer for someone to scan for new posts. I was also thinking it should have a very different character to, say, Town Cafe. One is polite about Sydenham, the other can be impolite about anything.

Sydenham's voice

Post by DigitalFX »

Hay,

If your thinking of replacing the Town Asylum name, what about Sydenham's Voice.

That way as you mentioned above, this section can be about what people in Sydenham think, and can voice their views about general topics relating to everyday things that are happening.

Just an idea Admin........
