Anyone used a doula?

Post by carlamarie35 »

Hi there
I'm interested to know if any Mums out there have used a doula, and if so what was their experience like - and would they recommend?
Many thanks

We had a postnatal doula. With all my family abroad and with my husband's family 6 hours away we found her support to be invaluable. I had an emergency C-section too which meant that mobility was an issue for a while.
At one point she suggested I should go and see a lactation consultant, which is how I was finally able to breastfeed as much as I could. Unfortunately, breastfeeding cafes, GPs and health visitors weren't able to help me. Different problems, including a tongue tied baby went undiagnosed until I saw her.

I'd recommend meeting a few and see how you get on with them if you're interested. We'd recommend Caroline though:

Hope that helps.
