Re: fatal stabbing in Wells Park Road.
Just about to buy a house near Wells Park Rd! Returning to London after five years....must say I'm nervous as hell as I've two young sons...is this area really bad news??? Hi Lizzie I lived in Sydenham for 11 years until recently and loved it. If I could have stayed in the area, I would have done ...

Re: Amazing family friendly days out 1.5 hrs from se26
Possibly pushing the 1.5 hours from Sydenham remit is Drusillas.
We'd camp at Wowo, year in year out and head to Drusillas. I'm no fan of zoos, but this place is perfect for little kids. As a family we really loved it.

Re: fatal stabbing in Wells Park Road.
We recently moved away from Sydenham and London but were heartsick to leave. I loved living in Sydenham and loved the community feel, embodied by people like Maria, The Dolphin, Sydenham Library, Kirkdale Books, Sugahill and Lee Newham, who all strove to create something new in the area and to ...

Love it, Lee.
It really lifts the side of that building. I actually do really like the retro styling.
Do you ever sleep..??

Re: Jill hub / Cherry & Ice
Been in today with miniMiniFox... We stayed and ate in. Trying to manhandle a 3.5 year old up the high street in the heat with a melting ice-cream was not appealing. I agree with the ideas as to how to make it easier to figure out what they have and what flavours they have - but when we got there it ...

Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey
I too saw an actual live human in fluoroscent vest carrying something looking distinctly like building materials inside the Greyhound, yesterday morning whilst on the school run.
After I had recovered from the shock, it made my entire day.
It can and should be beautiful again.

Enormous congratulations. Yet another win for the energy and enthusiasm of the people who live here and actually make it a great place to live.
I am not involved in any of these projects but I am enormously grateful to those of you who are.
Thank you

Hello Maria!
Yes, we love Gurkha too and won't abandon them. This has given me a bit of a giggle this evening. God help anyone taking over the Greyhound if they sell food...

Re: Lemon Tree
Say what..?
Honestly, what a completely random couple of posters...
I've not been in but I will make it my business to try them out if for no other reason that I don't like spurious mud-slinging undertaken from anonymous positions.
Good luck to the Lemon Tree. Honestly, most of us here are normal!

Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey
I walked past the Greyhound this morning in the snow and - like so many on here - felt extreme annoyance that it has been allowed to stand thus for so long. I add my voice to the (seeming) consensus that the developers should be encouraged by whatever is at our disposal to complete the building and ...

Re: Anyone recommend a plumber?
I'd also recommend Carrie (02086700342) too. I got her details from VN and she came same day to replace some taps. She was efficient, communicative and really easy to work with. Her quote and assessment of the job was exactly what happened. Would definitely use her again PS I am not Carrie. Or ...

Santas everywhere!
Hello Due to a combination of rubbish preparation and an over-stretched diary, I've managed to miss most of the Santas grottos going on locally. Without heading into Central London with a toddler and giving myself a nervous breakdown, has anyone come across anywhere with a nice grotto in South East ...

Thank you ever so much for the responses! I havent logged in for a while and have only just seen them. I think we are going to do a kids' lunch at Pizza Express in Beckenham (I have been told they do Make Your Own Pizza Parties) but I havent sorted it out yet. Thanks so much for the other pub ...

Re: Where are the best Baby clothes shops in the area
I agree that Smash Bang Wallop has some really nice things - equally Bunkha in Forest Hill has nice babywear too.
Also, Alhambra did stock kid and babywear but unsure whether they still do.
I hate to say it, but there's a ton of choice on Lordship Lane too

Party/ Lowkey lunch/dinner venue wanted!
Hi all Looking to host a get together for my daughter and her fellow NCT cohorts' 3rd birthday party. (4 maybe 5 3 years olds, 3 babies and 8-10 adults.) Likely to be October. We hired St Bart's church hall last year and it was very successful but not without its challenges as we had to do an A&E ...

Re: Helicopter Over head
The tower has been lit up since Sunday and seems to be gearing up to tomorrow night's switchover event. There was a lot of helicopter activity over the park and my road over last few days but I don't know whether any of the activity was related to each other. I wish the lights were staying too. It ...

It's for the digital switchover on Wednesday. It looks awesome doesn't it?
