Re: STARBUCKS OPENING January 2023
Ah finally, a proper coffee shop. To be honest the existing shops have had years to up their game but have failed to do so. I am no advocate of Starbucks but at least it should bring a wave of regeneration to Sydenham high street.

Re: PFC Penge Food Centre Sydenham Road
I'm happy to go and query this with the management if someone hasn't already? I would sincerely hope and assume that this is something the till staff are in on and the management are maybe unaware.

Re: Say 'No' to further retail at Bell Green
Exactly. Why does it have to be one or the other? Why can't you have a residential area with a supporting shop or two? Aldı is positioned as a low cost alternative to high street supermarkets anyway so surely it would help locals save money. Secondly why does Sydenham Society have any say over these ...

Re: Say 'No' to further retail at Bell Green
Yes, well having a stronger retail presence would no doubt increase the prospect of providing more jobs to the locals. The downside of course may be more traffic but I believe the benefits of local employment are far greater. Keeping the hideous gas works there is nothing more than an eyesore. Get ...

Re: Save Beer Rebellion - we need your help!
Considering the evolving demographic of Sydenham we need a more family friendly, inviting place than a dreary old bar/pub with a niche audience. Sorry to be harsh!

Re: Man with 2 dogs off lead
I'll ask the council for guidance. Maybe they can put up material in the area to warn irresponsible dog owners of fines if they do not have their dogs on a lead.

Re: Man with 2 dogs off lead
Irrespective of whether you love or hate dogs, they need to be on a lead if they are walking the streets. People who have a dog off-lead risk causing danger to others, especially since the dog's personality, breed cannot be determined. Therefore they should be reported, which was my original point ...

Re: Man with 2 dogs off lead
Thanks but I think parents with kids would be concerned seeing 2 dogs several metres away from the owner. There have been several incidents with off-lead dogs in the Newlands Park area. Next time I will be having a word with this guy and taking a picture of the dogs.

Man with 2 dogs off lead
Hi, Just wanted some advice on what to do about this guy (looks 60+) who I have seen twice walking down Sydenham Road with 2 dogs, one which looks like a pitbull, without any sort of lead on the doga. It is an accident waiting to happen with a small child. If I see him again I was going to take his ...

Re: Zanzibar- Licence revoked
Point taken. Then I think they should just leave nightclubs to central London entertainment. No need to infect the area with a late night drunken mob atmosphere.

Re: Zanzibar- Licence revoked
It's excellent that this place is not allowed to continue. Sydenham doesn't need a rowdy nightclub like this. It is an up and coming area and doesn't need this sort of establishment. Maybe reopen in Lewisham?
