Re: Graffiti between Sydenham Hill station and crescent wood

I've walked up the hill late at night on many occasions and had no issues. It can be quiet at times, although at other times you will get quite a few people walk up from the station after getting off the same train.

Re: Graffiti between Sydenham Hill station and crescent wood

I walk up and down the passage most days, and have done for over a decade, and never had any problems (apart from the gradient obviously).

Re: Is there ever any good news for Sydenham.?

The ES article is at http://www.homesandproperty.co.uk/prope ... 09031.html

No doubt it was cobbled together in five minutes, like most of their articles!

Re: Lewisham West CLP

Where does Jim Dowd stand regarding the position of Jeremy Corbyn? Is he one of the 172 who voted that they had no confidence in him? Just curious!

Re: The Woodhouse

I went there for a meal with my parents in late-April and somehow the staff lost our order! When the food eventually came it was reasonably good (though not fantastic value for money) and the beer is good. The garden is of course great, especially when the sun is out, so I hope they get their ...

Late 19th century aerial photographs

Thought that this might be of interest to people - Historic England have recently acquired the earliest surviving aerial images of England, which includes photographs of Crystal Palace, Beckenham, Catford, docklands and other areas. These were taken by Cecil Shadbolt between 1882 and 1892 before his ...

Re: Demolition of Hill House 28a Sydenham Hill

Thanks for the various responses. I did originally search the planning website but could find nothing but looked again a few days later and found it. I've since seen the various planning documents loaded onto the site but can't really get a sense of how the new building compares (in terms of size ...

Demolition of Hill House 28a Sydenham Hill

As a nearby resident I received a letter from Lewisham Council regarding an application to demolish Hill House 28a Sydenham Hill SE26 and the change of use, alteration and extension to 28 Sydenham Hill. Application No is DC/15/094733. However, I can't find any reference to it on the Lewisham Council ...

Re: Walk from Sydenham Hill station at night - is it safe?

As it happens, I walked up the hill from the station very late last night and the night before (after 11:30 both nights) and on one night I was the only person around and the other night one of about three - I can see why people might have concerns but no bother either time.

Re: Walk from Sydenham Hill station at night - is it safe?

There is a high metal fence separating the pathway from the woods - the alternative route, of going up College Road, is also pretty quiet at night. Do you have any statistical evidence to suggest that that is any safer?

Re: Walk from Sydenham Hill station at night - is it safe?

I have walked up and down that lane on a regular basis for the last eight years without any problems. It is well lit and there's a steady stream of people walking to and from the station, with limited options for any trouble-makers to suddenly appear (and disappear) from the side, as there are metal ...
