Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic
For all those complaining about the additional traffic on Sydenham Road and Mayow Road - the whole point is to encourage people to walk or cycle rather than drive. If you don't like being stuck in your car, think of the alternatives. My alternative would be... Train to Clapham Junction wait for ...

Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic
Do you mean to close that off too? Has the world gone mad? Just wait till things get back to normal and schools are reopen. It will be traffic and pollution chaos. I despair for Sydenham I really do. It will become an unattractive place to live. Not at all, The petition says it is to introduce ...

Signed, really hope this has a positive effect. It's unbelievable that changes haven't already been implemented. I wonder if Ellie Reeves and her team might be able to add some sway to it.RJM wrote: ↑25 Jul 2020 12:40 There is now a petition to make Mayow Road safer:

Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic
we should be rallying to see if we can improve things elsewhere too?! 100% - a race to the bottom helps nobody. Instead of begrudging those that benefit, let's use this as a positive example for change across sydenham. Exactly! Ghlpc - clearly you are in the group who are opposed to these changes ...

Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic
/quote] I'm glad your getting more sleep. We should all remember that when we are queuing at Mayow road light's or sitting in traffic on the high street. [/quote] I think you're taking completely the wrong point of my comment, but I'm glad you'll enjoy your queuing just a little bit more because you ...

Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic
As a silverdale resident, I think these closures are brilliant. In the years I’ve lived on the road the traffic has increased exponentially, as has road rage, The dangerous way people drive and believe they can do whatever they like has also left the road dangerous to cross and impossible to use s ...

Re: PFC Penge Food Centre Sydenham Road
Has anyone else noticed how in the last few weeks the price labels have all disappeared in PFC? They tried to charge me over £3 for two courgettes the other day. I commented that the prices had gone up and the cashier basically agreed yes they had and looked quite embarrassed. The manager appeared ...

Re: Notice of Silverdale traffic restriction from 29 Jul
Will great sadness, they are beginning to fill the hole and it looks like the road will reopen tomorrow... Maybe it's time to start a campaign for some traffic calming measures along this road (other than the useless bumps), the closure has highlighted the insane way people drive along here. Anyone ...

It's closed for Thames Water works, something to do with a leak. According to the Thames Water website this is due to be completed on the 31st. Until then, it's lovely and quiet, except for the moped drivers driving on the pavement...

Re: "Zanzibar" Party last night??
Something along the lines of them not being able to find a club to hire so they broke in to Zanzibar and had a rave...police couldn't do anything because I think they claimed squatters rights or something! Apparently there were up to 500 people there! Overheard all of this in the gym this morning ...

Re: More Trees for Sydenham High Street - can you help?
This is an awesome idea! More trees would make the high street so much better! Unfortunately I don't have time next week for leafleting but I'll be keeping an eye out for other opportunities to get involved!! Crowd funding is a brilliant idea!

Re: Waste Collection
It amazes me that they managed to do it pretty well every week, but they can't manage to fit everyone in every other week.... I finally had an email from another person at the council, potentially the refuse manager, who basically said they are trying to provide a good service but there have a been ...

Re: Waste Collection

We're on Silverdale and have been missed every single week, until last week they had missed us on Tuesday and then collected (after an email to the council) on Wednesday morning, but last week no collection and e-mailing ...

Re: Waste Collection
None of our bins were collected today either. Lewisham Council, via Twitter, said to e-mail envirocasework@lewisham.gov.uk with my request and address to get the collection made. I suggest others do the same. They've clearly got confused by their own schedule.....
