We moved back to Sydenham in 1957 and every year the noise of the cars and bikes used to drive my Mum nuts We lived in Lawrie Park gardens so it was fairly close.

I remember that park as I learned to ride my bike there, my Mum wasn't happy for me to learn on the proper roads but as soon as she saw I was competant on the road network ther I was allowed to use my bike on the 'proper roads'This was around 1956-7

There used to be a big church Gothic-stlye church at the Forest Hill end of Jews Walk. I know it was there in 1945 because I was christened there ,but I think it was pulled down and replaced by a more modern building.
