my post was in response to an attack on me by another poster. You have reproduced it out of context and without the accompanying text. It was made very clear, by suggestion, in the post to which I responded the nature of the poster concerned. If the poster did not mean to imply that then perhaps ...

Harder than it sounds admin. If you try to contact Trading Standards you are diverted to a government agency, claiming to be regional, which insists it must have details of your complaint and then it will decide whether your complaint should be referred to your local Trading Standards office ...

I simply made an enquiry. They were very quick to make it clear they were not interested in anything small-scale. I am sure they will attend if they have first carried out a major installation at your property. Most people are in the position of requiring a simple repair to an existing one, probably ...

That firm refuses to attend for anything less than a full installation (from my own experience).

and there we have it.... It is clear there is a concensus. There is need of places for people who prefer not to be deafed or gassed by the toxic fumes from cigarettes and other noxious devices (whose names we dare not mention) and who prefer not to soil their clothes on the furniture. I reckon a ...

Sydenham is full of nulls when it comes to mobile phones. All the companies have been promising to sort the problems out for decades.... I rather fancy the problems have more to do with the 400 MegaWatt transmitter at the top of the hill.... although I would not rule out incompetence on the part of ...

Surely, if we are to accept the economists' version of class then middle class should be middle income earners. i.e. (say) average earnings +/- 15% or thereabouts. Class has nothing to do with income. It is about taste and style. It is not about education (private or state) but a good education ...

walking past the Golden Lion is enough. The smell of the place would put off anyone looking for a pleasant, clean environment.

This just demonstrates how pointless it is to impose charges for collecting refuse. People simply dump the stuff or burn it and pollute the atmosphere. That is why refuse collection is treated as a "good". It is a service for which there is no viable means of collecting payment . Some clown was on ...

Nasaroc I have not laid into the police. I realise, now, you clearly are a Police Officer and seek to defend your beleaguered service on here. I simply stated some facts as I had witnessed them. I did so without comment. Since you attacked me here goes then: I was burgled. £28,000 worth of damage ...

Well I saw one four foot tall community whatsernames wandering up and down Sydenham Road today. Later an "unmarked" but oh so obvious car with three untidy looking individuals passed me going towards Cobbs Corner. It seems they were probably lost. They reappeared shortly afterwards going in the ...

Like I tried to say. It is not an issue of class. It is a matter of a gap in the market which the "market" has not identified or attempted to fill. Let those who prefer scruffy down at heel places have them. Let's see something else to cater for people who simply do not like such environments.

Well there are plenty of pubs playing "music" I would not wish to listen to and at a volume I would not subject myself to. How about an alternative? I never mentioned class. However clean is most definitely a requirement of customers if the establishment is going to be held to a similar one.

When my house was burgled I knew who had done it. The evidence was all there, despite the half-soaked incompetence of the investigating officers.

At the police station they made a mess of their procedures and so the villains walked.

I am not sure "middle class" is the correct definition. Surely there is a place for a clean , pleasantly designed, welcoming environment that serves drinks, coffees etc. but insists on a standard of dress and behaviour? Perhaps some softly playing music in the background rather than the headbanging ...

The last time I checked the trains stopped running early evening. On checking I find they have extended the service but the last train from Victoria is still early (23:05) I do feel, however, we would be better served by the more direct route via Tulse Hill, Clapham, Battersea rather than the detour ...

Hello. I registered because this thread interests me and I have a question for Lenduvall. He says the reason the new ELL cannot be extended to Victoria is a matter of capacity. The BR service between Sydenham and Victoria runs only during the busiest times of day. It stops when there is minimal ...
