Re: Carpenter
We had some alcove shelves and some radiator covers done by Anthony Stanton a few years back and I would highly recommend him. Not only was the work he did of a very high standard, but he did all the work i his workshop and only came back to fit/install. Reasonably priced too. http://beckenham ...

Another vote for Cat Calls, who I've used for over 5 years. Well established and professional, keys kept securely etc I couldn't fault them.

Re: Sewing Shops
There is also one at the bottom (Tooting end) of Balham High Road. Bit of a schlep but it's a good store and IMHO is much friendlier than Rolls and Rems.

Re: Looking for a Carpenter/Handyman
I have used Anthony Stanton in the past (see link) and would highly recommend him. He did some customised shelves and radiator covers for us. Cost-wise, our shelves did cost more than if we'd gone to Ikea, for example, but not as much as if we'd bought a unit somewhere upmarket and had the added ...

Re: Parliamentary Constituency Changes for Lewisham
Clock House, Crystal Palace and Penge & Cator wards were in Beckenham constituency until the last election when they moved into Lewisham West so it'd be a case of Business as Usual there. Surprisingly I don't think it made any difference and the Tories always had a healthy majority. [ Post made via ...

As a PP has said, the changing rooms aren't the greatest and in my experience they are a tad too pushy with trying to sell personal trainers, but so long as you are prepared to say you're not interested it's fine. I never used the changing rooms as I'd go there on my way home from work and use my ...

I'd highly recommend Amphlett Lissimore in Crystal Palace. They do fixed rates also. I found them to be really well organised, efficient and crucially, available to speak to when necessary.
Good luck with the move!

Having recently moved away from the area *sobs* my husband is going to be gutted at missing out on the beach volleyball competitors who'll no doubt be strolling down Penge High street in their skimpies..

Despite my initial reservations, Acorn recently did a brilliant job of selling my place in a very tough Market.

Re: Local groups for lively 8 month old
Watch out at the Heshima (Crystal Palace sure start) as I've been refused entry there for not being a resident of Croydon Borough. They do have some open sessions so you can look it up, otherwise be prepared to lie! The Bromley SureStart centres are pretty good too - one in the Groves in Penge and ...
Re: Vodafone
Doesn't it depend on the handset to an extent? We are in Lawrie Park, so very close to the transmitter and my partner has a Nokia phone on which he has terrible Vodafone reception - not ideal as he works from home He didn't have as many problems with the Blackberry..

I've had treatment at the Crystal Palace Sport Injury clinic - not limited to sports injuries by the way - and it was really good. Would thoroughly recommend.

Whoever darcy is,I salute you!
I regularly take a peek at the EDF, especially the Family Room, mainly for entertainment purposes. Someone over there described ED as "gritty and urban". I laughed so much I nearly choked on my fried chicken.

Cat Groomer
Hi Does anyone know of/recommend a decent cat groomer. I used to use one in Penge (rubbish but convenient) and they've closed down, then one on Anerley Hill which was much better but they've closed down...desperately need to get my long haired kitty cooled down in the heat! Yell list one called Hair ...
