Reduced Southern service
We seem to have lost the London Bridge to Victoria loop line. In fact services to London Bridge from Sydenham are down to two per hour even in the morning peak. This is really disappointing and surprising given the numbers of people now returning to offices. And now there is no direct train to ...

Re: Fox in house
We're in that area and have lost a few items to foxes this summer. Also found them in the house... such a pain as shoes can no longer be dumped by the back door! They are as bold as brass.

Re: Missing post?
No post for us yet today on Tredown. Had maybe one delivery last week. Awaiting late birthday cards and bits for a party that has already happened!

Re: Boilers R Us
Thanks all. I do like the sound of Progas but BoilersRUs offer a ten year warranty on the boiler we want so can't really turn that down. Will report back with how we get on!
Looking forward to warmer (hopefully cheaper) winter

Re: Boilers R Us
Hi all,
Just found this old thread about Boilers R Us. Any more recent feedback on them? We're looking to replace our boiler and they come out a bit cheaper than Progas, and offer a longer warranty.
Thanks!
Sue

Re: Parking problems
Controversially... I can't say it really bothers me. I live on one of the supposedly problematic roads and it's not a huge deal. 9 times out of 10 I can park somewhere on my road. Yes, parking spaces fill up super-quickly: it's rare that a space is vacant for long, so I can rarely park directly ...
Re: Budgens
Not sure if this has been posted already but I spotted this last year: https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2016/12/28/co-op-spend-70m-opening-100-stores-new-year/amp/ So coop opening more stores again... surely the Sydenham store wasn't that poor at making money. I would like ...

Re: Help! Byne Road - schools catchment?
Thanks, that is a very useful website. Bromley have just recently a leaflet about applying for primary places. On one of the pages, it lists all their schools and the distances they extended to in offering places for 2016 intake. I don't think the schoolscatchment website is that up-to-date yet. It ...

Re: Speed Camera Westwood Hill - Which speed???
It is really disappointing that on leaving Homecroft onto Tredown Road there is now a 30mph sign. This feels like it's encouraging drivers to drive at 30 along the narrow roads of Tredown, Byne and Wiverton, simply because they have the misfortune of being in Bromley borough! And I was under the ...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?
By very random coincidence a discussion about Sydenham with a friend, has led me to understand that the buyer of the Greyhound runs a small group of pubs, closest one being in Balham. Privately owned and very well run. Believe more news on this is being released fairly soon Sounds promising. I'd ...

Re: Help! Byne Road - schools catchment?
Hi We are in the process of buying a flat on Byne Road. Does anyone live here? We're a bit worried about what nursery and infant schools there are close by. We don't yet have a family but would like to one day, and stupidly didn't factor this in when we proceeded a few months ago. I guess we don't ...

Re: Help! Byne Road - schools catchment?
I think there have been other threads on this, as it's an issue for those living between Sydenham and Penge East. We live on Tredown Road too. My sons are 4 and 7, one at Kelvin Grove, one about to start. We really couldn't happier with the school. We've had excellent teachers, the school is vibrant ...

Re: Bonfires in back gardens.
I spoke to a helpful person in Bromley's Public protection team on Friday and they took down the details - tel 0300 303 8657, email ehts.customer@bromley.gov.uk. They asked if these were garden bonfires and I said I was sure they weren't, that they occur almost every evening and that they generate ...

Re: Speed Camera Westwood Hill - Which speed???
Fully support this on residential roads. Most of our roads are too narrow to safely do more than 20 but sadly we fall into Bromley so are not included. Am often surprised at the speed at which cars travel along Tredown. Lewisham, can we re-join you please?

Re: Bonfires in back gardens.
Bromley seem to take this seriously, if being a nuisance, which this is. Action can be taken under the Environmental Protection Act: http://www.bromley.gov.uk/info/413/pollution_control-air_quality/482/bonfires There is an email address to report persistent problems. So if this continues in Tredown ...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

Re: Parking problems
I would like to comment on this ongoing saga I do not want a cpz in this area. I live tredown end of wiverton road for many years and always find a space nearby. I have experience of a cpz and this does not guarantee a space outside your home usually lots more permits issued than spaces . charges ...

Re: Parking problems
[/quote] Eh - Me thinks we are getting our wires crossed here. The only CPZ I know of and probably the one that would apply in Sydenham is where as a resident you purchase a parking permit for £x on an annual basis. This allows you to park anywhere within a particular zone. Say for instance Zone J ...
