Maybe a little far away but the new refurbed Half Moon in Herne Hill promises to have some lovely rooms. There is the Tulse Hill hotel too but thats on a noisy road.

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?
Good news. Well done to all involved! Anyone any idea who is going to take on the pub? Has anyone contacted Antic or Late Knights about taking it on? Would be a shame for it to be empty for any significant time.

Re: Cherry and Ice
I'm dying to know how many people posting here have given their feedback to the owners/management directly. I hope the answer is everyone. There's a lot in the old adage used in the hospitality sector "if you like [our service] tell all your friends but if you don't like it tell us" It gives a ...

Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey
Now we're getting somewhere and good point re Canvas and Cream. Went there last Friday for first time and was v impressed. re Greyhound I would have thought that multi-use was most commercially viable which I think ivy house is but I may be wrong. And here is where I start to lose my objectivity a ...

Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey
Dear all Some views from a dispassionate observer. Why not take the amazing energy and passion thats going into debating these and other issues on these pages and put it into sorting out the mess instead? What matters is the right outcome for the Sydenham community. We are where we are. If PureLake ...

Agreed. Looks like some major work. Place is being gutted. Someone must know something. I'd be surprised if the work was being done by the current landlord..

Re: Sushi of Sydenham
I'm a sushi lover so the comments I have should be read with that in mind. In dining terms we barely have the basics covered in Sydenham so I wonder if a Japanese is a little too niche for the area at this moment in time. It would also need to be keenly priced to be successful here (if the posts ...

Re: What is the best Indian restaurant around Sydenham?
Barakah is pretty good I agree. Garam Masala has always been fine. V good value for money if you pick up and pay cash. Babur is by far the best around. I've always found the takeaway from its other shop pretty good but obviously nowhere near the quality of the restaurant. I've never had a good curry ...

Re: The pub on the kirkdale roundabout
I don't know this to be the case but maybe I can answer this mystery. I suspect that Antic are agreeing a lease of the building from the developer and meanwhile the developers are trying to sell the freehold of the building to someone else. [ Post made via Mobile Device ] http://sydenham.org.uk ...

Re: Vote For Kirkdale Village Logo
Hear hear JulietP. Couldn't agree more. Who cares what the name is, the point is that a group of people have got together to try and do something to improve the area potentially giving that part of Sydenham a new vibrancy it has been lacking for a long time. You have to start somewhere so let's give ...

Re: Bob Monkhouse - Syd man or not?
As an aside this reminds me of a joke Bob made being interviewed by Parkinson or someone like that. Monkhouse was asked about his upbringing. He said where he was from but then said "funny thing is a lot of people think I come from Kent....at least I think that's what they shout at me in the street ...

Re: Greyhound to be run by owners of East Dulwich Tavern, et
Westow House is not one of Antic's best examples IMO but they also own the White Hart in CP (better) plus the Balham Bowls Club and Tooting Tram and Social (superb both). In both the latter cases, some sympathetic renovations. With the bowls club, hell they've pretty much left it as is. [ Post made ...

As well as flyers, Amo should talk to somewhere like the Dolphin, supply them and get a mention on their menu. Keeping it local and all that.

When we went it sounded like Constance was miked up. Perhaps she is having trouble with her voice? No matter, we thoroughly enjoyed it. As LaHibernis says the food was particularly good. The Dolphin staff also did a good job getting people seated and fed. Look forward whatever Jonathan and the team ...

I agree with Raven Drone. If you are planning anything like Franco Manca then bring it on! All over the place pizzerias seem to do well on the same high streets as Italian restaurants. Our kids love pizza. We always find ourselves leaving Sydenham to find a pizzeria rather than an Italian. I also ...
