Re: sticky:RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
With respect @parker l think there are bigger fish to fry than the lettering on a Nandos sign.... [1quote="parker"]The grey looks smart but the grooves from the triangles within the lettering make it look as if something is amiss. Why can’t they sand the lettering down somehow, like this? Would make ...

Re: Ignition Brewey needs our help!
Does anyone know what the implications of the tap-room would be for the existing yoga and dance classes that run at the Sydenham Centre? It would be a shame if a multi-purpose community space was lost in the heart of Sydenham, much as l love the concept...

Re: sydenham post office
Really hoping we don't loose our Post Office on Sydenham High Street. It's a hub for the local community and much more than simply a postal service. Signed a card Union members were giving out outside the PO a few weeks ago, and have also signed the 38 degrees petition but not sure what else to do ...

Re: Thames Water - destroying our new pavements
Good work biscuitman1978,
Does anyone know who was responsible for digging up and then bitumining the section of pavement near Fresh and Fruity on the opposite side of Sydenham Road from Kente too? Would like to follow up on that one too, but no idea who caused the damage in the first place...

Thanks both, and sorry to drag you back into discussions about shop fronts Lee.
I've added details of how to comment to my original post in case anyone would like to.

Proposed hot pink signage for 105 Sydenham Road
There's a proposal to install hot pink signage for the shop-front at 105 Sydenham Road which already has approval to become an after-school club. They're requesting feedback in writing by 29th April so still time to try and lobby for something a bit more tasteful, and hoping that the Sydenham ...

Re: United Sound of Sydenham - 1 year Anniversary - Fri 22 J
Congrats on the 1 year anniversary @decchips. My husband and I came to the Dec session and loved it. Had never been to the Bricklayers before so weren't sure what to expect, but everyone was super friendly, the beers were cheap, the music was amazing, there was dancing!!! and the staff were great ...

Re: Rebuild the Greyhound Pub Campaign #rebuildthegreyhound
Yeyyyyyy! Finally some public action. Good on ya Sydenham Society. Looking forward to seeing what the next bits of the campaign look like, and very much hoping it will involve putting up a 'name and shame' sign outside the Greyhound so people understand exactly who is responsible for the current ...

Religious recruitment drive outside Coop
Not sure what's led to the recent religious recruitment drive outside Coop recently, but between the Jehovah's Witnesses earlier this week, and the evangelical Christians today I don't think I'll be shopping at the Coop until people stop trying to save my soul while I'm trying to buy milk....someone ...

Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey
Thanks Biscuitman. Your suggestions - particularly mediation sound like they would be a sensible way forward. What is particularly frustrating is the sense that local residents care very deeply about the issue but aren't seeing any progress and there's little public accountability. A 'vibrant high ...

Re: Pop-up eateries
Thanks for the review - I'm veggie and keep meaning to try out their food out as the menu sounds interesting. It's a shame you never get a chance to see what the food looks like when you're passing though, because the cafe area is at the back of the shop. I'm sure more people could be tempted to try ...

Sounds great, and nice idea to invite people in for a sneak peak and to take part in a photoshoot too.
Looking forward to visiting when it's open - you've definitely spotted a niche in the market!

I second that. Thanks for the updates biscuitman.
It's just amazing that this isn't further up the council's priority list - anyone who comes to visit me from out of town comments on the state of the Greyhound - it's a public disgrace.

Skanska survey
I've just completed the online survey about the street light replacement which took place along Sydenham High Street last year (via a link in a leaflet from Skanska/Lewisham council which was posted through our door). It's great that they are taking feedback, but there was no space for comments ...

Re: Sewing Shops
There is a good sewing machine shop in Deptford High Street, which sells new and reconditioned machines and does repairs and servicing. Rolls and Rems is OK for cheap fabric, Fabrics Galore slightly more upmarket with Liberty Prints etc. Depends what you are looking for. I've just come back from ...

Wimpy gone
I spotted the 'Wimpy closed down' sign outside the shop on Sydenham Road this morning. Does any-one have any news on what's going in instead?
