Re: Anyone recommend a plumber?

I've used Carrie as well from Plummy Plumbers, she was pleasant and carried out an excellent job changing my taps and pipes for kitchen sink two weeks ago. Would thoroughly recommend.

Re: Post all the news of the Riots here (To make it easy)

I'll add to the recent restrained tone of posts - I left work in Bromley just before 5 and travelled home via Penge East to Sydenham with no sign of any trouble. Majority of shops are shut, but a number of sole traders (e.g. Grocers and Billings were open). The denizens of the Two Halfs were ...

Re: WHAT IF no 13: BILLINGS Fishmongers & butchers

I went in yesterday - shop looks good and as already mentioned the recipe card is a simple but excellent idea. Looked like it was quite busy.

Got some delicious monkfish for a reasonable price. Great shop for Sydenham and really looking forward to when the butchers opens as well.

UKIP declare war on Iran!? Scary! Sorry I couldn't resist that. Assumed typos aside... The thought of a referendum for any issue that 3 million people request seems to raise more questions than it answers. Not least how it would be administered (securely). There would also have to be very careful ...

I'm sure BBW was joking, but in case not - urine does work. Has to be male though, apparently female is not powerful enough!

The least safe of the constituencies according to the National Shopper article, but bearing in mind some are 1-100 that isn't saying much! The Tory candidate visited me a little while ago, he claimed that due to a change in boundaries they will likely have more voters this time, but a 12,000 ...

Penge East (Orpington bound) is a dead loss though - apparently a train is broken down on line. Waited for 45 minutes and now home to warm up in the hope it gets better...

Trains into London seemed just as bad, but at least the line wasn't blocked as fast trains were going through

I agree, I like the place and while it might not be everybody's cup of tea (pint of ale?) it does bring a bit of variety to Sydenham drinking.

Ulysses, have you seen the new timetable from Penge East? Services this week have been pretty poor with bad weather, but there are trains every 15 minutes on stopping service from Bromley South to Victoria now. Far from perfect, but improved! Funny how Southeastern keep getting more trains and ...

It beggars belief that they can consider cutting these services - I am lucky enough to no longer commute to London Bridge, but Mrs Poulet does. The services at present from about 17:30 until 19:00 are currently jam packed and it can be a struggle to get on. There may be some routes that are even ...

I'd agree, it seems pretty pointless research - amusingly although the research was carried out by Virgin Money, the story carries a banner ad for Norwich Union.

Then again, Donny is pretty 'risky'...

Pinch points

Sorry to keep the trains theme of the week going, but an interesting article (rare I know!) in the freebie papers this evening about 'pinch points' which are stations with cattle truck conditions: http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23634320-details/Busiest+trains+carrying+40+per+cent ...
