My partner and I went to Kafe La recently and found the staff to be very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. We are not experts in this type of cuisine but the food was all freshly prepared and really enjoyable. I would definately recommend that people give it a try. Another very good ...
Regarding Volkspares, they used to be really good as Fishcox stated and my ex father-in-law was the garage manager for years, but he left and the owners sold the garage to someone else and a few of my mates have been there recently and complained of bad service and rude staff. I personally wouldnt ...
I use Autocure which are a VW specialist. Richard the owner used to work for VW for years and has now set up on his own. You can contact him on 0208 658 2222 or 0773 980 2222 and he's in the penge area. I dont have any personal affiliation with Richard he just a really good mechanic that wont rip ...

I know its not strictly Sydenham but what with the iminent closure of the Greyhound, which is no great loss in terms of a night out, its nice to have another pub along similar lines to the Dolphin. I ate here on the opening night of the restaurant and the food was really nice (seared scallops). I ...

I totally agree with Jules and I dont think her comments are rude at all. As other people have commented on this thread, this pub could be a success story if managed correctly as has been proven by the owners of the Dolphin. Also without trying to sound patronising, if you happen to be part of the ...

Thats quite negative. As bad as the Greyhound is in terms of a pubic house at present I dont think pulling it down and replacing it with flats is the answer. It still has character and is a landmark for Sydenham that most people are aware of and recognise. Destroying it and putting up more housing ...

I had noticed in and around the area prior to the event that posters advertising the night had been fly posted on various lamposts etc but I dont recall that it specified a closing time. I would assume that a licence for such an event would be a pre-requisite otherwise the police would have surely ...

Clown, That is quite possibly the funniest thing that has ever been posted on this site. The sad thing is the truths contained within it. I'm sure you'll get a few bleeding hearts in the p.c. brigade that will disagree but it does restore my faith in the great british humour because to be honest ...

I agree totally with the sentiments regarding name changing. The only reason I can assume for the "Honor Oak" is that Honor Oak as an area seems to be, although I hate to use this terminology, up and coming/trendy and therefore the new owners may feel a pub by the same name might attract that trendy ...

I think from memory the same people used to own and run The North Pole in Greenwich as well which, if im correct means it will be a local entrepreneur who is very well aware of the potenial clientele The Two Brewers Could attract. Also on similar note, has anyone seen the redeveloped "St Germains ...

Am I right in assuming The Dolphin did actually open last night after all ? I only ask because when I drove past yesterday at approx 6:00pm it did'nt seem to be open at all. I then telephoned the Dartmouth Arms for further confirmation (directory enquiries could'nt locate a listing for The Dolphin ...

Well whoever currently resides in the house, squatters or not, probably assumes if they stay there long enough the property will be handed over to them for free by the council. They can then apply to the same council for a home improvement grant and live happily ever after. Dont ya just love a happy ...

It is really refreshing to see that someone is actually prepared to invest in the potential of Sydenham. As Greg has previously mentioned Sydenham does have a wealth of people (in terms of both money & diversity) that will be prepared to eat drink & be merry in an enviroment of like minded souls. If ...

As per the previous posts I do recommend it but i've only been there a couple of times. That being said i've always had a good meal & a nice few bottles of wine. If your feeling adventurous you could always try La Lanterna on Brockley Rd SE4 nearer the train station end. We had a really nice meal ...
