and has been for 2 hours now, the stretch from Worsley Bridge Road (by Lower Sydenham railway bridge) right up to Meadowview Road (by the Lidl supermarket) is closed both ways to traffic and pedestrians (all taped off). Police told me "due to a serious accident" but that was an hour and a half ago, and I haven't seen any emergency vehicles other than police cars blocking the road.
Edit 22:55 :- just reopened
Southend Lane closed
Re: Southend Lane closed
It was a road traffic collision where two people suffered head injuries. HEMS and the London Ambulance Service attended and took the parties to hospital. Police kept the road closed as a potential crime scene for forensics photos etc.
Thankfully the injuries have been declared "non life threatening" and "non life changing" once they made it to hospital and received initial treatment and assessment. All involved are expected to make a full recovery.
I don't know any more details.
*edit* - just incase anyone doesn't know what HEMS stands for it is "Helicopter Emergency medical Service" - the air ambulance.
