Sydenham Poppy Appeal, The Legion seeks……

Post by Poppyappeal »

Caring, honest, hardworking charity, 89 years young, seeks younger like minded partners for exciting, fulfilling relationship. Must be organised, have a sense of humour and be sympathetic to our brave Armed Forces.

The Royal British Legion is launching a campaign to attract more people to volunteer their time as Local Poppy Coordinators and is asking the people of Sydenham to do their bit.

The Local Poppy Coordinator position has long formed the backbone of the Legion’s network of volunteers and as the charity moves towards a new era of supporting the members of the Armed Forces returning from Iraq and Afghanistan the demand for Poppies has never been greater.

Over the past 13 years the Poppy Appeal in Lower Sydenham has been organised by a local volunteer who now thinks it is time for some fresh faces and bright ideas. Without local volunteers, members of the general public are unable to find a Poppy close to home and in return unable pay their respects to Forces heroes past and present.

Following the announcement yesterday that Tony Blair will donate the proceeds of his forthcoming memoirs to The Royal British Legions Battle Back Scheme it has never been a better time to support and volunteer for the Poppy Appeal.
