Do the google ads really work? I know I tend to ignore then incase they lead you to spam. Does anyone live with a good view of Sydenham that they would be willing to have a web cam pointing out into the street? Don't know anything about webcams so don't know how or if this could work. You could even have a few webcam from users and it loops to different cams around Sydenham. lol
(I split this off from the new Sydenham Town thread as it is an interesting topic in itself)
GoogleAds are also a convenient method for local businesses to market to this demographic as several have over the years. Its a lot easier to administer then setting up individual ads on pages and then billing them for click thrus etc. So if you are a local business do think about opening a Google Adword account and specifying sydenham.org.uk as you preferred website placement.
I, like most of you, don't like 'in yer face' ads as the main point of each page is not to sell ads but provide information - and anything that detracts is not helpful. Hence I've tried to make them discrete by toning in with editorial. There if you want them and easily ignored if you don't. Hope I got the balance right.
Re webcams - the authorities appear to be able to watch us anywhere anytime but private coverage of public places has all sorts of restrictions & licensing issues which I really don't want to get into.

Yes they do Sean. Otherwise they would not be there. Unlike the other Sydenham town website which is paid for out of your taxes - the cost of this Sydenham Town website is partly, but far from totally, covered by the ad income. It costs the taxpayer zilch.sean wrote:Do the google ads really work?l
