I was pleased to see amongst recent planning applications that English Heritage have <submitted an application> for listed building consent to install a blue plaque commemorating Eleanor Marx's residence, and sad death, at 7 Jews Walk. There is only one other official blue plaque in Sydenham, for Sir Ernest Shackleton.
Some years ago I wrote<a brief article on Eleanor>, describing her final, rather sad, years in Sydenham (I've just re-read it and it really needs some updating). Although the article mentions that Lewisham was considering erecting a plaque, an EH one has far more kudos.
