Somebody just called me up to say they heard on a radio about a fire currently happening near Cobb's Corner!?

I passed by at around 4pm and there didn't seem to be anything untoward - apart from the usual log-jammed traffic!

However, I still don't know which building! I've also found a similar report on a freeview channel, saying an A road is closed southbound.

According to Peter the Newsagent it wasn't at Cobb's Corner but up Kirkdale somewhere near the back of St Barts. No fire engines now to be seen and everything inc St Barts seems to be standing.

I live near the road that it was on and the fire was in an abandoned warehouse behind the church. Link on the London Fire Brigade website, http://www.london-fire.gov.uk/news/latest_incidents.asp

I work adjoining the building where the fire happened. It is a disused warehouse, and has been for years. I am sure you cannot get into it unless you go through the derelict backland area behind the buildings in Kirkdale. I believe it was one of my colleagues who called the brigade, and it was certainly an impressive fire, but strangely the building is reasonably undamaged as such...the roof has caved in, but the walls are still in good unburnt condition. Probably arson, but who knows!

That was the building. It looks like the roof has completely gone but the building does'nt seem to bad
