Fishing rod car thefts in Sydenham

A friend of mine in central Sydenham has just been the victim of a 'fishing rod' car theft - where the perpetrators use a fishing rod or coat hanger to nick your keys from inside your front door. So watch out - thieves about! And if anyone spots a silver A series Mercedes whose reg begins HV02 please let the police know. This also happened to other close neighbours a couple of weeks ago - so please do not leave your keys on a hallstand or anywhere that they can be seen from your letterbox.

This has also happened to an acquaintance in the Thorpes. This time, however, the thieves painstakingly removed a small piece of lead from the stain glass window, pulled a small section of glass out and got to the keys that way. When they tried to get into my letterbox the police told me to bring my keys bedroom at night and keep them in my night stand
