Not that this is necessarily specific to any individual on this forum but sometimes a degree of anonymity is necessary. If someone worked for Southern Trains, the local Doctor's surgery, the police, the bus company etc etc. then their employers may prohibit them from posting publicly from the position of "an employee of". However, a person in such a position can perhaps share an insight or useful information from an "implied" position behind a persona. I believe that it why "Barty" stopped posting - as his employer found out about his Southern Trains updates and essentially told him to stop.

And my name is actually Ben.

No one ever knows who is behind most posters.

Hairy B could be Eric Pickles. Who will ever know......

Offensive. For whom , Secretary of State or HB?

I would imagine EP is a devoted cyclist , like HB.

On the basis that I can't verify any user's name on this board ( even if it is given how do I know it is true? (don't answer that))
Therefore from this moment onwards I will from now be responding to no one on this forum.
In return I ask that you don't respond to any of my posts.

That is all.

Methinks some people don't understand that there's a difference between a response and a tit for tat bolshie argument. Nor that it's possible for admin to check that people are who they say they are, as happens on other sites.

How can Admin verify your details? How does it work on other sites?

Perhaps you can put it to the vote and see if the support amongst the community has increased since the last time the issue was raised?

We're all asparagus, except for Brian, who's an eagle and Eric, who's half a bee.

I don't want to be asparagus. I have enough problems in life without making people's pee smell weird.

My spellchecker suggests I want to be Apart. Hmm.

Well, I'm not publishing my surname. I'm in the phone directory, and that, coupled with the information in my signature, would make it easy to find me, which is against all best practice in Internet security.
