Has anyone let room to foreign language student?

Post by Savvy »

We have been in touch with Kings School in Beckenham with a view to providing room and mentoring to a foreign language student. Has anyone done this and if so what was your experience?

Thanks.

Hi, I haven't done this myself, but funnily enough I have been thinking about it.... have you gone ahead now? If so, would be keen to find out how you get on. Cheers.

The school haven't been back in touch since I called them but we're having second thoughts anyway. It seems you have to be around for the students whilst they are here and that would make it difficult for us to go on holiday during their 'term time' - and Middle Eastern students don't tend to go home during the holidays because its a long haul. Also the financial reward isn't that great £95 - £115 per week. (Thats for 7 breakfasts / 7 dinners and two packed lunches at weekends. Then there's all the extra laundry etc....) I'm not sure its worth it though I guess many people do it for the experience more than the money. I'll let you know of any developments. I do know they are really short of host families at the moment.
