Late night licence - 319 Sydenham Road

Post by Chris Best »

There is a Licensing Committee meeting at the Town Hall in Catford starting at 7.15pm on Wednesday 2 November to hear the application for a Premises Licence from PCI Restaurant and Bar trading at 319 Sydenham Road.

Here is the link for the Committee report http://councilmeetings.lewisham.gov.uk/ ... px?ID=6243 and the appendix http://councilmeetings.lewisham.gov.uk/ ... px?ID=6244.

The application is to permit the sale of alcohol Monday to Sunday 1100 to 2300 along with recorded music/dancing and on Saturday's preceding all bank holiday Mondays, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Eve from 1100 to 0400.

I have objected to the additional days lasting until 4am as this is more of a residential area and residents are concerned with late night noise.

Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the Licensing Committee meeting as I wil be chairing an objectors meeting for the planning application on St Clements Heights - http://acolnet.lewisham.gov.uk/LEWIS-XS ... mkey=64225. If any resident wishes to attend the Licensing Committee meeting please let me know as I have a lot of background information.

Yes Annie,

It is what used to be " Roy's Cafe" , on the corner of Champion Road. I used to go there early in mornings a few times a week for breakfast in the early 90's. The owner once pulled me to one side and asked me if I was a Police Officer. When I explained I wasnt he was very pleased and explained that a lot of his established regulars thought I was and it was " putting them off " as a lot of them were shop lifters and selling illegal substances ! Just an anecdote from 20 years ago.

On the OP I would think the place is very small for " Music and Dancing" and is completely surrounded by intense residential property, not very suitable IMHO.

It's opposite Home Park and already seems to operate as a night club already, I have been past and heard music and voices inside. You can't see inside it. It's very odd, god knows what goes on inside.

There are no signs outside except the number 319. It's shop front was ripped out last year (or the year before) and security shutters installed.

Walked past last night, it's currently a Caribbean restaurant by the looks of it. Very crude signage, and very dead, mind you it was only 7:15.

Cheers

Anthony Scully, Chair of the Friends of Home Park, is going along to the Town Hall for 7.15pm to object to the late night extensions to 4am - given that 11pm is a reasonable closing time.

The existing planning use is A3 which covers restaurants and cafés - for the sale of food and drink for consumption on the premises

There is an A4 use for drinking establishments - pubs, wine bars or other drinking establishments (but not night clubs)

A5 is hot food takeaways - for the sale of hot food for consumption off the premises

So on top of planning permission for use and things like shutters and signage is a requirement for an alcohol licence for the consumpion on/off the premises.

Yes the licence has been granted with the following conditions

The sale of alcohol and recorded music/dancing be permitted between 11pm and 2am on weekends preceeding bank holiday Mondays and on Christmas Eve, Bosing Day and New Year's Eve

A sound limited be installed

Use of the garden by customes is prohibited after 8pm

The maximum capacity of the restaurant must not exceed 35 customers

Door supervisors must be employed between 11pm and 2pm

The Committee considered that the imposition of these conditions on the premises licence would promote the prevention of the public nuisance licensing objective.
