If you're the chap (or know who he is) who handed my partner's mobile phone to the staff at Sydenham station yesterday and went out of your way to send texts/make calls to let us know that you were doing so, please know that your kindness is very much appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: Mobile phone Samaritan
Good Samaritans are around
I hope yours sees your message.
On mobile phones, there's a way of registering and thus disabling them if stolen so that even if the sim card is replaced, the phone is unusable (so no point nicking it). I can't remember how off the top of my head.

Re: Mobile phone Samaritan
That is probably a bit out of date as this is what Snopes has to say: http://www.snopes.com/crime/prevent/celltheft.asp I could carry on researching but perhaps someone with a phone worth nicking might already know more than I.
