Hello.
I have an old memory foam mattress which isn't good enough for use (so can't give it away on Freecycle for example). I don't have a car to take it to the nearest recycling centre, so was wondering if anyone knows of a free local collection service for recycling items? Don't really want to throw it away in the usual waste but if there is no alternative option i'll have to.
Many thanks
Recycling collection in SE26?
Re: Recycling collection in SE26?
I got rid of a sofe a year or so ago, but had to do it via Lewisham Councils special collection which cost about £15 i think.
Re: Recycling collection in SE26?
Innovatively, Lewisham offer a free mattress recycling program so you’re in luck. All you have to do is get a special sticker to affix and leave it outside on the street. A passing LLB vehicle will then stop and take it away. The scheme actually works and you can get a sticker from the usual Lewisham outlets, including the library.

You can just phone up & speak to a very nice man in refuse collection who will arrange a pick up.
I don't know the direct line, but I got through on the main number 020 8314 6000
