Drink Control Zone: Lewisham want your views
You are invited to give your feedback on Lewisham's Drink Control Order experiment. Presumably if most approve it will be made permanent. If not it may not be renewed.
The consultation is here:
http://lewisham-consult.limehouse.co.uk ... p/dppoeval
It would be useful on completion if you would give some feedback here. Either via the poll above or in a more detailed post.

It's useless unless it's enforced.
For years in Brockely we pleaded with Mayor Bullock who did nothing except give us empty promises, ignore us or put totally incompetent, rude Cllrs on the case to 'help us' despite some simple steps he could have used to stop the incredible anti social behavior we were subjected to day in and day out. Finally they introduced a NDZ but it wasn't enforced and the problems continued (to this day).
I wasn't even aware the NDZ had been introduced, I still see street drinkers.
Wouldn't it be better to have a law that publicans are responsable for their patrons like they do in Canada and ban the likes of Tesco selling loss leader booze?

What do you mean by "enforcing" it? The drinking control zone doesn't outlaw drinking at all.... It is a discretionary power to be exercised by iduvidual police officers or pcsos as they see fit. I don't know of any police officer on the borough that "enforces" it...and I know a fair few. Quite rightly so. I do, however, know officers that arrest and prosecute people for being drunk and disorderly, for fighting or being abusive etc. Which is how it should be.

Drink Control Zone?
How about a greasy smelly food zone (starting on public transport but on the streets the next week)?

HD, I know what you mean. The amount of litter in Sydenham road at then end of the day is horrible. A lot of it (if not most) seems to be the aftermath of greasy battery chicken in a box. The fact that we have bins with no tops (or bins that are half demolished) doesn't help.
I see people walk right past a bin and drop litter on the floor. If anything we have too many bins in the high street, it sounds odd, but it wouldn't make much difference if they were taken away, there is some research on litter and bin provisions (which I can't find right now).
Bensonby, I kind of agree with you, which raises the question, why have a NDZ anyway? Is it just a way of being seen to do something by messers Bullock and co, a token gesture with no real benefit?

Yep Lee, I had someone that REALLY didn't need any more carbs or calories or greasy poultry skin stinking the place out a few feet away from me today.
I'd have loved the authorisation to rub their podgy handsful in their face
Night night

I suspect HD's much younger than he/she appears. This is not the first time he/she's retired pre watershed. I have taken the liberty of assembling a photofit:leenewham wrote:You retire early sir!

Not sure about the DCZs. They move the problem, spread it over a wider area but do not address it. Currently DCZs do not appear to have the resources to either disperse or address as a range of public services need to be involved not just the police.

Can't see your image Duke but I'll bet it's hilarious
Good grief I wasn't off to bed! I often wish I could be more disciplined about it than I am about it though. I know someone that goes to bed about 10/10.30
I'm often coping on about 3hrs kip.

Ugh, perish the thought
It's all very peculiar isn't it?
Probably gettting a little ad hominem here but he's a chap that's not very attractive (imhoo at least) except that some women simply go doolally about the tall (nope, I'm not an envious short man btw .... ) .
He's widely thought of as megalomaniac but I suppose some of that could be explained as ex-team members' sourness.
My VERY best boss ever was an utter megalo.etc in being very driven but so clever ..... I daresay he's still both (as well as very rich).
Edit: Love the pic
Reminds me of a pic of my brother.
