Vote for our local shops

Post by Tim Lund »

I just went down to Slatter - sorry, the Cake Shop, with the idea of photographing the amazing Will 'n' Kate cake they have inside, but that'll have to wait till the blinds are drawn. However, in the window there was a notice about voting for it - and maybe winning a fabulous prize - in a Telegraph shop 'Best Small shops in Britain' award.

My vote has now been cast for the Cake Store as "Best for food", and inevitably for Kirkdale Bookshop in the 'Best bookshop' category. There are also categories for 'Best corner shop', 'Best for gardening' , 'Best for wine' , 'Best for children' , 'Best for health and beauty'.

Here's the link to enter http://www.telegraph.co.uk/lifestyle/79 ... -2010.html

and here's the Cakestore's site http://www.thecakestore.co.uk/

And thanks Mummycat too. As a matter of interest, do you know of any other local shops with Facebook pages?

Sorry - should have remembered Trat Raff, since I have indeed signed up to it as a friend. I'll look up Sugahill and the Dolphin now ...
