Many thanks admin - and as can be seen on other threads I am looking forward to talking on Sydenham Radio this evening (between 7 and 8pm) and at the hustings at Thursday 22 April at Sydenham High School.
I have a web site - http://www.chrisbest.org - setting out what I have been doing for Sydenham as well as a flickr site showing photos of the many events that take place here. You can see the details of my co-councillor Marion Nisbet as well as Liam Curran who, as a former Councillor for Sydenham, is standing again.
As local residents we are aware of the issues and know that there is more to do.
Our three pledges for Sydenham are:
· Listening to residents’ views through the Sydenham Ward Assembly - ensuring we decide more locally
· Securing a vibrant high street through the £3.6 million improvement to Sydenham Road and improvements to Station Approach
· Providing opportunities for our young people including the £3.5 million new youth centre at Sydenham Wells Park Road
I hope that starts the discussion and will reply to comments.

Sydenham faces a significant challenge in reducing the anti-social behaviour associated with street drinking. I support a Drinking Control Zone (DCZ) for Sydenham Road and the side roads as well as Sydenham Wells, Mayow and Home Parks.
We have set up a Problem Orientated Partnership (POP) for Sydenham so that working with the police Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) we can tackle the anti-social behaviour of the street drinkers and so far we have:
• Identified and mapped out where the street drinkers live – and most are residents in Sydenham
• Worked to engage and help drinkers access treatment - most have been through a treatment programme
• Promoted a Traders Agreement with all the off and on licences in the Sydenham area so that alcohol is not sold to known street drinkers
• The police have used enforcement powers including obtaining an Anti Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) which prohibits a named person from being in possession of any opened container of alcohol in Sydenham Road
• The police have used Section 27 Direction to exclude drinkers from Sydenham Road for a period of 48 hours
• The police enforce related criminal behaviour such as drug use
I attended a summit on Street Drinking called by the Mayor of Lewisham and Steve is now considering next steps including whether to have a DCZ for parts of Sydenham and other areas in Lewisham or have a DCZ for the whole of the borough to avoid displacement from one locality to another. This is an issue we shall continue to tackle.
