Wichita Lineman

Post by admin »

I am a lineman for the county.
And I drive the mainroad.
Lookin' in the sun for another overload.
Ahem - the Forum is suffering from a rough connection this morning. Traced it to an apparently dodgy Global Crossing router in Wichita, Oklahoma. Hope our eponymous lineman will be fixing the issue.

Meanwhile listen to the music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qoymGCDYzU

Thought you might have an outage. Although it didn't stop me constantly 'refreshing'. Asylum behaviour if ever there was.

As for Wichita Lineman might I also recommend the Johnny Cash version he recorded during his last years and was released posthumously:

James Taylor also does a mean cover which he played when I saw him at the O2 last year:

Sorry, It's gotta be Glen. I loved this song when I was a kid (I grew up in a hotel in Ilfracombe, Devon so I was surrounded by 'old music' and people dancing 'the slosh').

You're preaching to the converted here leenewham. The music of our household was Jim Reeves, Waylon Jennings, Glen Campbell, Don Williams et al.

Indeed Glen Campbell did an excellent performance on the 'Johnny Cash TV Show' of, said, Wichita Lineman. If you put 'glen campbell johnny cash' into youtube you can see some of the excellent duets they did, most notably "Suffer Little Children".

The Forum connection has been a bit intermittent this morning. This is unusual. I class the Forum as one of the better sites I visit regularly for speed of response and reliability.
