Does any kind hearted soul have an external CD drive I can borrow? I recently bought a netbook and realised yesterday it now won't go past the Windows XP loading screen. Sounds to me like a windows/virus related auto-shutdown.
Anyway, foolishly I didn't buy an external drive as I thought I could rely on USB pen drives. I didn't expect Windows to fail (assuming it is a software issue).
Thanks in advance. It should only be away from you for an evening whilst I try to use my XP recovery disk which is on CD.
Can I borrow an external CD drive?
I have one but I'm not sure you can afford my bar bill.
Have you tried booting into Safe-mode (Hold down <F5> or <F8> sorry can't remember which) during boot. This normally gets you slowly to a working system sans drivers where you can try and sort the problem. Actually just going in and out of Safe mode solves a lot of issues.
Which netbook?

It won't boot into any of the 3 safe-mode options nor 'last good' nor normally.
I consider myself fairly competent with computers as I used to build my own gaming rigs but this sounds fairly terminal. Either reinstalling windows will fix it or the HDD has gone pop as I can hear it whirring whereas I never used to.
It's a Samsung N110. It was bought in October.
