I thought the post by Emmale was quite confused and bizarre. The poster states it is "...also the most pleasant way to get from Forest Hill to East Dulwich and when you do get to the Dulwich side, there is a marvellous area of pretty allotments to wander around, from which you may take in "the best view of London in London".
If anyone just thinks about that suggestion for a minute. Say you get off at FH. You'd have to go along London Road then along and up Sydenham Hill before dropping down into the woods. Assuming you found yousrself at these allotments near to Dulwich and Sydenham Hill golf course then you'd be a good distance from East Dulwich.
In fact you'd have to come back on yourself a fair way to end up at 'The Grove' end of Cox's Walk and yet still have Lordship Lane to tackle!
i have met many lost people in Sydenham Woods. People looking for the Victorian Folley, Lordship Lane, or the nearest rail station. Some of them appeared to have been in there for many days.
The last time I went it took me ages to find the way in! I hadn't been there for nigh on 10 years before that mind and I am sure I entered directly from the main road instead of having to go down quite a steep path first. It is a great place to wander around
