Well spotted, sydeman. There is always a poster up on the station with details of engineering work - the forthcoming weekend is shown in detail, with a map of affected areas, and a summary of the next few weekends is underneath. Also, we put info on the big screen in the booking hall, and a few words on the little yellow screens on the platforms about the coming weekend's engineering work a few days before, so that commuters can catch it. Sometimes, though, the process of putting this information onto the screens can be delayed by disruption earlier in the week - the same staff who deal with putting info about day-to-day disruption on the screens also deal with putting the weekend engineering info on, so if there is serious disruption in the week, the engineering stuff may not appear till weds or thurs - we just don't have time to do so as early as we would like, so apologies for that.

I'm not sure, to be honest. Much of the infrastructure is in place aready. Checking can be done overnight, with any works to repair anything that's been found scheduled as necessary. That said, I know that works have been taking place at West Croydon (to make an additional platform available I think) and of course at New Cross Gate - where I believe a depot for the new LOROL trains is being built.
