Re: Bakerloo Line Extension
Yes there are weekly and indeed daily cancellations-and huge delays on this line and what is the incentive to improve it when as soon as people complain other people come on here to say how "fantastic" they find the "more reliable"service- until of course they too have at last to use it regularly ...

Annoying, but it's par for the course.Just symptomatic of how we generally seem to have low priority.

Re: Worst local transport journeys?
The lighting isn't great from Lower Sydenham but I feel safe walking back. There's always a train full of people walkig down the street with you, so there's safety in numbers at least!
But not late at night- it is completely deserted down to Southend Lane.Lots of local people avoid this route ...

356 from Forest Hill Station to Bell Green -evry 30 minutes after 7 pm but not necessarily on time and no countdown on most stops.
If you save the URL for "live bus departures" in your phone you can get the countdown for any bus stop in London. Very useful:

Re: Worst local transport journeys?
But on the bright side....meant ot say i have found changing at LB so much easier since the rebuild and now that the links are open to Charing X and to Farringdon and St Pancras it does make journeys into town much easier and feels as if we might actually live in London! LB station is a hige ...

Exactly. I was taught this in 1988! Worrying that so many people don't know the highway code.

Re: 154-158 Sydenham Road
I do not know a single neighbour who neither knows nor cares what ward they live in. In contrast, it seems to be bordering on an obsession with one poster on here. What matters to most people is what is going on in their immediate vecinity, regardless if it is in the same ward or them or accross an ...

They, or perhaps the second tier landlords are also very active on social media trying to lure(or con?) potential buyers with misrepresentation about the availability of public transport,(trains every 30 mins last direct one from Charing X at 22.05 pm )

Re: Dylon works - FT reports L&Q buying bulk for social hous
The developers have been trying to sell Dylon appartments week after week with massive advertisements in The Standard- clearly to no avail. They, or perhaps the second tier landlords are also very active on social media trying to lure(or con?) potential buyers with misrepresentation about the ...

Re: Why high streets die
We are incredibly lucky in Sydenham to have a free car park just off the High Street and within walking distance of all shops up to Cobbs Corner! So if you really have to drive to Sydenham it is so easy to park! Frankly I have no idea why local people drive here ...walking, biking and good bus ...

Re: Loud motorbike revving can be heard from Westwood Hill
In addition to the mopeds I saw on Perry Rise/Bell Green with no number plates, doing wheelies, I now note there is a burned out moped left lying on the River Walk path (Sydenham end ) near the recreation ground.

What? This is about the school, nothing to do with Grenfell at all.By drawing any implied parallel you are scaremongering. People need to focus on the question, not pontificating about other issues. That's how this debate got off track in the first place.

Re: Sydenham Assembly Wednesday 13th June 2018
I think this is getting a little out of hand. It is one thing to say that the planning regulations have not been complied with and that the building is not as specified in the submitted plans, a fact which must be addressed. It is quite another to engage in rumour -mongering about safety, saying the ...
Re: sticky:Mural?
Sorry if i am being particularly dense but I still can't make sense of the Council's original reply to JMLF. When they say "they would prefer" what does this mean? Do they mean this won't go ahead unless we comply with their views , or do they just mean "we 'd prefer" literaly, in which case, who ...

Re: Penge Homebase closed - now Bunnings warehouse
I agree it is bad news-I found the range of stock and the customer service at Bunnings to be considerably better than Homebase.
Contrary to what has been said on here, Homebase has a very bad imageindeed- for poor stock, high prices and far too few staff. It ranks as one of the bottom stores out of ...

In my memory the bowling green has hardly ever been used as a cinema-and i have checked with the FOMP- the last time it was sued in this way being Sydenham Arts two years ago, hardly a good use of space!

Re: Mopeds
The "silly boys" also run the red lights at Perry Rise, cut through the traffic doing wheelies and on Tuesday night were actually doing wheelies up on the pavement at the junction of Bell Green. Sooner or later some one is going to be seriously hurt or killed regardless as what else they may or may ...
